Request Legal Help

The New England First Amendment Coalition reviews requests involving freedom of speech and the press, newsgathering, access to courts and government proceedings, public records, open meetings, and related media law issues in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, as well as federal cases and those in other jurisdictions that may be relevant or have consequence to those in the New England States.

NEFAC does not represent individuals or organizations. In litigation, NEFAC may act as a plaintiff or other party, or help support representation led by independent counsel. Depending on the issue and its resources, NEFAC may also consider providing general information, providing contact information for another lawyer or organization, supporting a matter through its Legal Fund, or participating as an amicus or advocate. NEFAC has limited staff and cannot help with or respond to every request.

Sending this form asks NEFAC to review your request. It does not make NEFAC—or any lawyer who may review it—your lawyer, and it does not create an agreement to provide legal services. Any representation would need to be arranged separately with independent counsel.

NEFAC does not monitor this form continuously and may not review or respond to your request. Sending this form does not stop a filing deadline or an applicable statute of limitations from running. If you face an upcoming deadline that may affect your rights, contact a qualified lawyer promptly and do not wait for NEFAC. NEFAC does not assume responsibility for filing anything, preserving a claim, or monitoring or protecting your deadlines. You remain responsible for applicable deadlines unless you separately arrange for your own lawyer to handle them.
