Mo Mehlsak has been editor of The Forecaster, a regional newspaper in Southern Maine, since 2006. He joined the weekly paper, which publishes four editions covering Portland and the surrounding area, as managing editor in 2004. He spent the previous 18 years at the Journal Tribune in Biddeford, Maine, where he worked as the paper’s first business writer. He later became business editor, features editor, editor of the weekend edition and city editor. Prior to the Journal Tribune, Mr. Mehlsak worked for Automotive Age magazine as a reporter and editor, as well as a business writer at the Daily News of Los Angeles.
In 2010, he received the Golden Quill award, presented annually by the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors, for outstanding editorial writing. Mr. Mehlsak was also named one of the ISWNE’s “Golden Dozen,”—a Golden Quill finalist—in 2007 and 2011, and has received several other state and regional awards for reporting and writing.
